About this role
ISB seeks an experienced High School Social Studies Teacher. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in teaching using the C3 Framework—driving inquiry, developing disciplinary thinking skills, and engaging students in applying their learning to authentic, real-world problems. Experience with IB and/or AP courses in Economics and/or Psychology is also preferred.
This position also offers the opportunity to help ISB launch a university-level Entrepreneurship course, where students connect with mentors, blend theory with practice, and test ideas in authentic contexts. In the second year of the pathway, students will be challenged to bring their ventures to life. We are seeking a candidate who can build strong networks, open doors to authentic experiences, and inspire students to turn their ideas into meaningful action while discovering passions that may shape their future.
Responsibilities
Core Responsibilities
Provide meaningful, intentional learning opportunities aligned with the practices, standards, benchmarks, and learning outcomes of the ISB curriculum, along with its Vision, Mission, Core Values, and Community of Practice
Actively participate in collaborative team meetings with a growth mindset and focus on improving learning for all students
Partner with counselors, administration, and other staff to ensure care and support for the social, emotional and learning success of students
Assess student learning and provide timely, quality feedback to improve student learning
Adjust for learning needs based on students’ needs using a data informed approach
Demonstrate skill at differentiating within the classroom for students needing extension and enrichment as well as those needing support
Engage in professional development to ensure research-supported practices in the instruction and care of children are used at ISB
Communicate directly and collaboratively with parents or guardians to positively improve student learning and/or well-being
Positively contribute to school culture through positivity, care for others, and shared sense of purpose and community
Maintain a mindset of high expectations facilitated through systems of high support
Support student engagement by attending school events, including occasional evening and weekend commitments
Actively contribute to the curricular and co-curricular life of the school, including leading or chaperoning local and international student trips and community service experiences, and providing sponsorship for a student club or activity.
Maintain a safe and supportive campus environment through supervision duties during the school day and at key events as needed
Mentor and support students through the Advisory and House programs to foster community, build SEL, and support academic growth.
Requirements
Required Qualifications and Experience
Hold a valid teaching license or certification
Have at least three years of relevant and recent teaching experience
Demonstrate success in teaching externally examined courses (IB or AP)
Have Experience teaching a standards-based curriculum using the C3 Framework (preferred)
Have experience designing innovative courses and/or programming (preferred)
Have experience connecting students with mentors (preferred)
Have experience with, and a belief in, an inquiry approach to teaching and learning
Have experience teaching English Language Learners
Have experience using data to inform instruction through a Professional Learning Community (PLC)
Be Invested in pedagogical best practice and alignment with current educational research

Demonstrate open mindedness and warmth within a philosophy of care

Compensation
ISB provides a highly competitive compensation and benefits package that is commensurate with the candidate’s experience and aligned with global international school standards. The initial contract is a two year commitment.
